Gibson Misc. parts page covers all the little but important guitar parts that are required for a complete restoration of your vintage guitar. Vintage guitar parts have become a vital part of the link. Due to the high prices of vintage guitar if  your instrument is not 100% original it will never bring the maximum  market price .

Many of these parts seem trivial and we  get crazy emails in reference to some of these parts but the real guitar collector or player knows the value of these parts.

Under the misc. category we will include such items as brackets , tuner bushings , screws , springs , straps ,various nuts and pointers , cases , tags , paperwork . It is amazing how an original receipt and a photo with an original owner can add value to the instrument.

Brackets for the guitars have varied greatly. The archtop pickguard brackets were all nickel or gold pre 1965 . They mostly screwed into the base of the pickguard block and attached with a screw on  the side of the guitars.  The Les Paul models were a flatter angled bracket again nickel or gold and mounted under the guard by a top screw and nut. By 1966 all the bracket for all models were now chrome or gold.

The bushings on Gibson guitar depended on the tuner company but most guitars had Kluson tuners., Their bushings were nickel or gold. They were slightly taller than a Fender bushing which looks the same but is shorter. These bushings were push in bushings .

The bushings for the Grover tuners used for Gibson were the screw down type with a washer . These came also in gold or nickel . The Kluson strip  tuners used a push in bushing but were much cheaper and had a round edge and were featherweight .

An interesting part is the abr-1 adjusting wheels for the bridge. The 1950’s ones were nickel and very thin !! . this is a little known fact. By 1960 the wheels were much thicker and easily identified . This  makes a big difference when you have a 300k burst and you have the wrong wheels. They were made of nickel or gold until around 1965 at that time they remained thicker but were now chrome or gold. Again 1965 is a transition year for nickel and chrome for all parts so keep that in mind both examples can be found on the same guitar.
